Maldives in my dreams
When you think about Paradise, what do you see?
In my case it was the Maldives, all white sands, turquoise waters, single palm trees, water villas and luxury.
I can tell you, it is all that and more… If you want a luxury stay, where everybody knows your name, where the food is to die for and service is impeccable.
Then you must go to the Maldives
I had the pleasure of staying at two different luxury resorts. The first stop at Six Senses Laamu and the other one at Soneva Gili (now Lankanfushi).
The resorts are one of the best I ever been to. The reclaimed timber, from which the hotel is built of, is nicely done. The layout of the villas are excellent and everything is simply made BUT with taste and luxury in mind.
At first I thought, two weeks on a tiny island, that is not for me, but I was soo wrong. I never had a dull moment, even after been around the island in less than 30 minutes.
Every villa comes wiht a pair of bicycles for easy transportation, biking on the bridges are fun and everywhere is that beautiful water surrounding you.
Another cool thing was the little scent menu. A choice of five different scents to put in to your bed for a greater sleep. The Lavendel scent became one of the favourites.
Dinner under the stars
Service and food was superb, in Soneva Gili they served dinner on the beach, under the palm trees and the stars. It is very spectacular having an exotic meal on the beach, just lit up by torches…
It is pricy though, especially having wine, I don’t think we had a bottle at all during the first week. If you can, book All Inclusive, you will enjoy your stay more. Even food is expensive, but hey, remember where you are. A small pizza is about $30.
You will forget all about that when you boat up to the arrival jetty, takes your shoes off (no shoe policy) and feels the sand under your feet.
Going snorkling is something you just need to do. We saw some reef sharks amongst all the other colorful fishes and turtles.
Pack a book or five, chill in your villa, take a swim from the private stairs, in to the ocean…
I loved the secluded outdoor showers!
I could go on…. but it was very nice. I did post some pics on my instagram @travellikebj – see more there
